Luxury Textured Tiles for Feature Walls

The Shadow and Light collection is a series of luxury textured tiles for feature walls, defined by a geometric triangular form. Inspired by the contrast of light and shadow, the surface shifts throughout the day as each plane catches light differently, creating depth and subtle movement.

The design is composed of two triangular tiles — one with horizontal texture and the other with vertical. When combined, they can form a more uniform pattern or be arranged more freely, resulting in a less predictable surface.

The tiles can be finished in a single glaze or developed through a combination of tones, allowing the pattern to read either quietly or with more contrast.

Each tile is made by hand using natural clay and finished with lead-free glazes. As handmade ceramic tiles, the process allows for subtle variation, giving the surface a more tactile and considered quality.

Each tile is made by hand using natural clay and finished with lead-free glazes in our studio. The process is slow and considered, allowing the material to behave naturally and giving each piece its own subtle variation.

We work closely with designers to develop bespoke colour palettes and finishes that sit comfortably within a space. Each project is approached individually, whether the intention is a softer, tonal scheme or something more defined.

Akashic Tiles is a South African studio focused on handmade ceramic tiles, producing pieces in small batches and working with projects both locally and internationally.
